James Fiander

James Fiander was born in Baulkham Hills and finished his Higher School Certificate at William Clarke College in Kellyville. He is employed as a Wine Consultant and is currently studying at Charles Sturt University, a Bachelor of Wine Business - by distance.

Climate change and other environmental issues have been forefront in James’ thinking for many years. It became apparent in his high school years how these issues are portrayed and ignored in the political process, while establishing a program to assist with paper and aluminium recycling. Since that time it has been his personal commitment to help all those around him become more aware of the environment we live in and learn about the steps that people can take on a daily basis, which are simple and effective measures of improving the environment. "It’s the simply things that everyone can do that will make a difference in the long term"

James undertook a Rotary sponsored Youth exchange to the United States of America in 2000 and was awarded the Presidents Student award by President Bill Clinton (USA) for his work at Texas Children's Hospital. He has been recognised for his contributions to the AIDS Council of New South Wales and his commitment to helping all those who may need it.

Along with the members of the Climate Change Coalition party, He is a strong advocate of increases in diversity, tolerance and equal rights for all humans in our great country, from all nationalities, creeds, lifestyles and religions, improved sustainability of energy, food and water supplies nationally.

James is also has strong beliefs in the spirit of democracy and that everyone has the right to vote and have a say.

"One of the most important opinions we will have in our lives comes once every couple of years when we have elections for government"... "It really is one of the most important and relevant events in our lives."

James has decided to run as a House of Representatives candidate in the 2007 federal election as a member of the Climate Change Coalition, to provide an independent voice for the electorate of Mitchell in Sydney's North West.

James passions include music, the environment, equal rights for all people and a nice wine, enjoyed with friends and family. In James’ spare time, you would find him volunteering for the AIDS Council of New South Wales, listening to music or walking around Kellyville.

The residents of Mitchell deserve an INDEPENDENT, young and strong voice in Canberra on national and local issues.
