Steve wants to represent Queensland in the senate. Learn more
Steve is a 55 year old civil engineer with extensive experience in growing businesses. He understands the complexities of international markets, and he knows what it is like to start a manufacturing business and compete effectively in various countries. He also knows what it is like to complete an epic journey, having dragged and paddled his kayak from Brisbane to Adelaide experiencing the full length of the Darling River system. His key interest is in water but believes that if you are not addressing climate change you are not addressing water. He has been active in the Australian Water Association since 1983 and convened the very successful Ozwater conference in 2005.
In 1994 after consultation with water industry leaders Steve, as president of the Australian Water Association in Queensland stated on ABC radio that Brisbane people would be drinking recycled water in 10 years. He was wrong, it will be 14 years, but it is happening. The point is that you don't need a crystal ball to see the future. All you need is objective analysis of the current facts. It is also imperative that we have leaders who understand this as well. Steve believes his specialist expertise would be very beneficial to parliament. No current politician could hope to have the same depth of knowledge in water as it takes almost a full working lifetime in the industry to obtain such experience. He would therefore be available to help them find the truth, the facts about water issues and climate change so they can make the right decisions.
Steve's career has spanned water authorities, consulting engineers, contractors and manufacturers but his heart is in small business and its ability to adapt, innovate and show the world just how good Australians are.
He devotes his life to making a difference, for the benefit of all Australians.
