Vidas Kubilius is a business and marketing student born and bred in Adelaide. Having been a member of the Australian Lithuanian Scouts Corp since the age of six, environmental conservation and sustainable co-existence with nature has always been an issue close to his heart.
In his tenure as College Captain at Cabra Dominican College, Vidas was involved with a number of issues and community activities centered on Social Justice. However, after watching Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth,' Vidas' response to another injustice came swift; involving himself with Patrice Newell's political campaign in the New South Wales 2007 State Election.
The issue of Climate Change is a fight Vidas is passionate about, for he believes "...If legislation continues to offer consumers and businesses little incentive to assist in the fight against Climate Change, this market failure will continue to write itself in history as the biggest political, social, economic and environmental injustice inherited by my generation."
"Canberra cannot afford to play with Australia's future well-being. To reduce inflationary pressures on food prices and interest rates, the standard of living we all take for granted in Australia needs Climate Change at the forefront of progressive strategic and economic policy from the major parties. We need to ensure legislation takes action now against Climate Change."
"I believe one must never stop learning; you can never know too much and you will never know everything. The great poet Jimi Hendrix once said, 'Knowledge speaks, wisdom listens...' It's just a shame the current legislative powers weren't into Hendrix. It is obvious they are not listening to the facts. They are finding quick answers without asking the right questions."
"Climate Change is the biggest issue facing my generation. It is paramount that effective legislation be brought in soon to assist consumers in combating this hot issue. And we don't need to live like monks to do something substantial about this issue."
"Market opportunities exist for Australian businesses to gain a competitive edge in producing and exporting Green Technologies. The government needs support such activities by pushing a shift in resources and offering greater incentives across the board."
"Our parents and grandparents didn't work their entire lives to build Australia to the strengths it has today, just to see it deteriorate through economic and business mismanagement through the ill-advised management of Climate Change."
Having worked in advertising and export consultancy, with his Business, Marketing and Economics studies behind him, Vidas brings a sharp, fresh business mind to the Climate Change Coalition.
Currently finishing his Management Marketing degree, in his spare time Vidas enjoys camping, travelling, bush walking, basketball and fishing on the Yorke Peninsula.
